Background

Through the European Caravan Network, we united 8 organizations from 6 countries to continue the participatory youth work initiated by Madam Fortuna between 2015–2021. There was a strong need to build a transnational network focused on social cohesion through artistic and creative processes. We aim to share expertise in participatory arts and foster a society where young people from diverse ethnic backgrounds meet and step outside their comfort zones. Our goal is to empower minority groups, including Roma and refugees, by providing opportunities for participation. We approach super-diversity proactively, encouraging youth to engage in creative processes, develop themselves, and share their lived experiences. We strive to build bridges between communities and individuals, especially the most vulnerable. Our method is sustainable and rooted in care. We use art as a tool to turn young people into active citizens—empowered to speak up and fully express themselves, but also to listen to one another, and engage in joint action.
