Objectives

The main goal of the project is to increase the knowledge and skills of teachers for training through the concept of STE(A)M. The inclusion of research principles and a highly adaptive framework to meet the different needs of students, typical of the STEM / STEAM approach, will promote the learning and increase students' motivation. To work in a team, to think critically and to use what is learned in life. The project objectives are: 1. Acquisition of knowledge, tools and competencies for teaching and learning in the context of STEAM, as an approach to teaching in different subjects. 2. Implementation in the learning process of digital tools and the research approach in the context of STEAM, tailored to the age characteristics of students and the subject. 3. Acquisition of effective methods and tools for implementation of the STEM and STEAM approach in the education of the children from the preparatory group at the school.

Background

SU "Tsar Simeon Veliki" is the largest school in Vidin district. Our goal is to offer the most modern educational service. That means high expectation of teachers skills. The teaching profession is facing rapidly changing requirements for a new, broader and more advanced set of competencies. The requirements for students' knowledge and skills are changing. Today the real-world jobs are interdisciplinary. Training is no longer about memorizing facts. Students should take part in experiments, be encouraged to share their ideas, work on group projects aimed at exploring the world around them. In 2021, a 3-year school development plan was adopted. One of the goals was the construction of a STEM center and implementation of the STEAM approach - through a new approach to learning, children to build a holistic picture of the world around them. This requires teachers to be trained to teach by applying the concept of the STEAM method.
