Environment and climate change

Objectives

We wanted to improve our competence in solving future climate problems, to help our students believe that by changing their attitude to environmental protection they can make a difference globally, that the future depends on each one of us, that every person is important. We organized different and varied activities and adapted the project activities to the curriculum. We introduced concepts of sustainability and implemented concrete activities in school. We have established inter-partner contacts for future communication and collaboration with other neighbouring schools. Through the knowledge and skills acquired, we have developed a vision and plan for a school policy for a sustainable future (a plan that we will follow next school year in the classroom, for example, and beyond), created a positive attitude of the students towards the future and a readiness to face the problems of climate change. Together with our students and colleagues, we have become aware of the impact of our daily habits on the environment and how to change this behaviour, and we have gained new knowledge and competences on how to reduce consumption and be responsible consumers.

Background

We are a team that follows the traditions and experience of its predecessors, but also relies on innovation and full collaboration with students and parents. A team that is at the service of the needs of the child's personality and responsible behaviour towards social life. Alongside the aims of providing quality learning and education for adolescents, our school is committed to promoting sustainable development thinking. We hope that some of our students are future rulers, managers of enterprises and companies. If they form a green mindset today, they would take care of the cleanliness of their hometown tomorrow. A clean school today means a clean city in the future. With the implementation of the project we helped to recover and recycle the separately collected waste. A large percentage of young people fear for their future and believe it will be much worse. We as teachers had to find a way to reassure our students, but we lacked knowledge and competence. This led us to look for an opportunity to do this in an interesting way. And so we turned to the Erasmus+ programme.
