The objective of this mobility is to enhance capacities of Cyprus Local Goverment in Cyprus following demands of the Green Deal. The participants will have the ability through job shadowing to learn about preparation of strategy plans for Municipalities and Communities on environmental issues and implementtaion of infrstructure projects under the scope of enrironmental protection. These infrastructure projects will be related to recylcing, waste management, urban mobility and micro-mobility, projects or environmental regenartion, projects with bioclimatic design etc. At the same time, it is foreseen that local action plans on environmenat awareness will be prepared with target groups both citizens and visitors of Cyprus.
The reason why Cyprus Local Academy has applied under this mobility call, is to strengthen the capacities of policy makers and managerial staff of Local Government in Cyprus in environmental issues that are relevant to their responsibilities. The targets set by the Green Deal and the necessity to implement them in short time, bring up the lack of specialised competences and the lack of previouw experience both for the policy makers and the staff. The Cyprus Local Academy foresees face to face job experience for the participants of the mobility in Municipalities and local communties in Crete, in environmental units such as recylcing factories, innovative liquid waste management units, bioclimatic city planning departments etc.
