The Open University of Cyprus (OUC) is a public university specializing in open and distance education. The University aims to fully leverage the benefits of the Erasmus+ programme, actively participating in all five Mobility Actions (SMS, SMP, STA, STT, and International Mobility). The KA131-2022 Erasmus+ OUC Project was designed to achieve the following objectives: • Contribute to OUC's internationalisation strategy. • Foster internationally oriented teaching and learning through Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreements (IIAs) with both distance and on-campus higher education institutions (HEIs), enhance collaborative research, knowledge transfer, and support student and staff exchanges. • Ensure a steady flow of outgoing Erasmus+ students. The majority of OUC students are considered "underrepresented" in mobility programmes, as they are non-traditional HEI students—typically mature adults, working professionals, or individuals with families. OUC students were given the opportunity to participate in Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) and short-term mobilities to enhance their interest in the Erasmus+ programme. • Maintain strong cooperation with partner HEIs, ensuring high satisfaction levels and quality across all mobility activities, building on the University's extensive experience in Erasmus+. • Facilitate mobility opportunities in a wide range of countries, moving beyond the "easy option" of Greece, despite the shared language and culture, to encourage broader international exposure for students and staff. • Efficiently utilise the awarded budget. • Promote digitalisation, and facilitate the sharing of best practices and peer learning among staff. Furthermore, under KA131-2022, OUC successfully implemented its first two Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), both of which were highly successful. The first BIP involved over 20 student participants, while the second had more than 15. The BIPs were designed with two key objectives: (a) to strengthen strategic cooperation with partner universities and enhance student and staff mobility exchanges, and (b) to internationalise the University's curriculum and lifelong learning opportunities.
