Objectives

The project has fulfilled the initial scope of work and delivered tangible, impactful outcomes. Key project implementation achievements include: - Building a real-scale Greenhouse prototype (demonstrated in Nicosia, Cyprus) with scalable applications (demostrated in Heraklion, Greece). - Demostrating a small proof of concept to serve as an example for circular economy and climate resilience in a local scale. The prototype repurposes construction components such us old windows, turns waste into new construction materials, and ensures dismantling rather than demolishing so that the prototype can have a harmonious ecological end-cycle footprint. - Showcasing advanced technologies in smart agriculture, such as automation, IoT, and optimization techniques. - hosting the smart greenhouse construction process as an open educational activity, offering hands-on learning opportunities for all learners. These achievements remain in line with what has been referenced in the project description and initial objectives of the grant application as well as in great alignment with the programme policy priorities by addressing climate change, fostering forward-looking learning, and promoting active citizenship.

Background

This funding program aligns with our long-term goal to positively impact lives and the environment by 2030 through co-creation. By financing this project, we sought to enrich transnational collaborations supporting our strategy for education and sustainability. Our aim was to unite daring professionals to tackle urban challenges, reshape educational practices, and collaboratively demonstrate affordable, scalable solutions for the circular economy and urban agriculture. The small-scale prototype created through this grant provides a hands-on educational experience, serving as a proof of concept and methodology for future educational exchange projects. The project addresses the need to bridge gaps in next-generation education on new agricultural technologies and sustainability practices. It particularly supports vulnerable and underrepresented communities, empowering them to thrive in their operations and future development while protecting the environment.
