ESSS project aimed to 1) evaluate and assess the needs of social scientists around Social Economy, 2) develop innovative tools that can support active citizenship in lifelong learning, 3) communicate to the participants the principles of Social Economy and the fulfilment of local needs, 4) transfer to them social and entrepreneurial competences and critical thinking, 5) train them on how to become social entrepreneurs, and finally 6) empower them to enter in the labour market.
The context of the ESSS project focused on the social sciences sector and specifically on social entrepreneurship. The project aimed to address the challenges of a broken system within today’s economy for social scientists. The general objective of this project was to strengthen the entrepreneurial and business capacity of socially engaged professionals within the EU interested in promoting positive social change. This project suggested that by strengthening general project development/management skills of social scientists, local or wider communities will benefit from an entrepreneurial movement. This was particularly relevant to those social scientists who could act as social entrepreneurs and could develop new social programs at local/national level. ESSS project was tailored to promote entrepreneurship, creative learning and social entrepreneurship by instigating opportunities for the participating socially engaged social scientists to put their innovative ideas into practice.
