Objectives

Digital technology is changing people’s lives. The EU’s digital strategy aims to make this transformation work for people and businesses, while helping to achieve its target of a climate-neutral Europe by 2050. “Active youth in the Digital Era” was a Youth Exchange where we had the opportunity to detach from our hyper-connected daily lives, while rediscovering the power of human interaction. The exchange took place in Pervolia village in Cyprus . Surrounded by nature, we used art as a tool to explore and expressed ourselves, unleashing our creativity in our own unique way. Through this youth exchange our goal was to elevate awareness among young individuals regarding the potential risks they encounter online. We eagerly anticipated guiding them towards becoming responsible and mindful users, equipped with the ability to filter and understand the information they come across on the internet. Our engaging activity aims to achieve several key objectives, enhancing participants’ awareness of online threats like scams, malware, and viruses. Engaging sessions will empower young minds to recognize and avoid potential dangers, promoting a safer digital experience. Addressing the pressing issue of cyberbullying, the program provided an open space for discussions, sharing personal experiences and developing effective coping mechanisms. In the era of widespread social media use, the initiative is dedicated to promoting responsible content sharing. Participants gained insights into the consequences of shared information and the importance of online accountability. Simultaneously, the youth exchange enhances media literacy skills, helping participants discern fake news and fostering critical thinking to combat misinformation effectively. By the program’s end, we envision participants to become independent digital users with a solid grasp of the details of online safety. This project aimed to critically approach behaviors when it comes to internet, social networks and technology in general and to create a space to critically analyze behaviors of youth, share experiences and methods how to eliminate bad effects and use all the advantages internet, social networks and technology can provide us with. According to the information from the Summary analysis of the EKCYP survey on the topic - Towards a better understanding of the impact of COVID-19 on the youth sector, the youth sector faces a major challenge and that is digital online work. According to the report, as many as 84% of the organizations during the pandemic did not have experience in online cooperation, which caused a positive shock, especially to the youth workers, young volunteers and leaders. Communication and sustainable contact during the pandemic were very low and activities in the field of non-formal learning were delayed. In general, the non-governmental sector has faced digitalization and digital youth work and holding online meetings, workshops and webinars, which shows the new need to promote new mechanisms for digital youth work and training and education of youth workers. During the COVID 19 crisis, digital technology reached its rise and popularity. In the process of self-isolation and limited movement, citizens across the EU and the world performed their work responsibilities from home - online. The pandemic situation was a big challenge for everyone, but also for those who do not have much experience with the rational use of digital tools and programs. Needs and issues of the project: - Need for training and improvement of the competencies of the youth workers in the field of IT technology and improving their digital working skills - Need to guide the youth workers how to use IT tools rationally and correctly, gaining new knowledge how to organize online activities in the field of youth work - Need to gain new international experience and knowledge of youth workers, getting closer to new EU practices and educational methodologies - Need to promote marginalized youth with fewer opportunities, promoting marginalized youth in front of an international team Project Goals: - Increase digital literacy - Learn about a healthy way to use technology - Immerse in full disconnection from devices -Transform the relationship with technology - Step out of the comfort zone - Establish meaningful connections in the offline world Objectives: - Improving the skills, knowledge and habits of youth workers in the field of digital youth work - Bringing youth worker closer to new EU practices in the field of IT and digital technology - Research of new methodologies for digital youth work and exchange of national digital practices - Organization of IT promotions for raising public awareness and promotion of digital youth work - Promotion of the Erasmus + program as a mechanism for involving youth with fewer opportunities
