Our aim was to gain practical and theoretical knowledge through discussions with local experts on FMN as a digital platform for storing memories online and also in methods of training other users. We see FMN as another offer of more attractive training for students who have not yet shown interest in our offer. We are currently able to support our students with the necessary digital skills. These may come naturally to the younger generation, but as we reach the middle-aged generation over 45, digital skills often lag behind and further support is needed. This project has provided us with the necessary skills to train and support those who need it to fully enjoy the interactivity of a digital memory box using images, text, videos and sounds. There is currently no online reminiscence tool available in Czechia, yet there is significant demand among the public for digitisation and the Czech version of the Forget Me Not platform allows families the opportunity to store valuable memories and organisations to enjoy reminiscence in a new way. In parallel with the training activities, the planning steps necessary to effectively cascade and share their skills with other organisations, professionals and volunteers in Czechia were carried out.
As the leading professional organization in the Czech Republic in the field of reminiscence therapy used in the fight against dementia, we at the Reminiscence Centre are always on the lookout for opportunities to improve and develop our own expertise. Therefore, we have identified a consortium of organisations that have developed an advanced reminiscence methodology based on digital memories. Forget Me Not is a unique method that helps to combat dementia, preserve human dignity, memories and connect generations, and foster family bonds. Given all the values mentioned above, which are also the foundation of our organization, forget me not is one of the tools to improve the care of people with dementia in our country. Because of the unique technology, it is appealing to young people who love technology. Forget Me Not thus becomes an intuitive tool to connect generations and families. The great advantage of Forget Me Not is its use not only for personal benefit, but also for social services involved in caring for people with dementia on a professional level. Thanks to the availability of Forget Me Not, the quality and standard of care for older people with dementia is being raised.
