This project has set itself three objectives. The first was to raise pupils' European awareness, to compare the idea of a common Europe in the different countries participating in the project. The second objective was to improve students' media and digital literacy. The third objective was to raise awareness of the usage of ecological resources and to broaden students' environmental education. One of the important needs of the school is also to motivate teachers for professional and personal development, to prevent burnout and to introduce innovative practices in the teaching process by sharing good practices with colleagues abroad.
Our grammar school is a small and the only secondary one in a town with about 3500 inhabitants. Therefore is logically an important part of the local community and is actively involved in social events and local culture. But small towns are often inward-looking and do not open up to the world. Foreign cooperation is thus very important! Project work enables the building of a common European awareness, the recognition of existing cultural links and, last but not least, such work is an important part of the personal development of students and their future successful professional life. The friendships made during international exchanges allow students to get a real picture of life in a particular country. The media literacy developed in the project is in tune with our newly introduced subject 'Media Education', and digital competences are developed continuously. Ecology is the content of another new subject at our school, called 'Environmental Education'. The formation of new school subjects during this and the last project is a tangible result of our project work. This project builds on previous cooperation with the same foreign partners, which we wished to continue and thus maintain the context of our development.
