We wanted to improve English language skills: to understand, to look up and to be able to orient oneself in written authentic materials – tutorial, manual, presentation, support documents, web applications); to be able to communicate orally and also in writing with our foreign partners; to improve communication with our pupils (Project Based Learning, CLIL). Desirable digitalization skills to attain are, e.g. finding and gaining digital data, information and content; assessing the source relevance and its content; storing, managing and organizing data, information and digital content; data evaluation; information and digital content; analyzing, comparing and critical assessment of credibility and reliability of data content and resources. Further project goals were: modernization of educational process via IT usage; better school results of our pupils; improving school climate; professional progress of our teachers; higher level of independence and self-confidence of both teachers and pupils; better cultural awareness and intercultural understanding; reinforcement of cooperation with people of different social, national and professional backgrounds; gaining more knowledge and information about various EU projects and EU values.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the entire education faced changes that are to be incorporated into the Framework Education Program, which were supposed to lead to a reduction of the curriculum in individ. subjects and to a greater involvement of IT skills even in regular lessons outside of IT education. In the new FEP, a new key digital competence and a new educational field of Informatics get implemented. IT focuses primarily on the development of IT thinking and understanding the basic principles of digit. technologies. The digital competence of pupils in individual school educational fields of FEP is to develop according to how the development of digital technologies affects their contents. Due to the digitalization, great emphasis is placed on the inclusion of IT skills and abilities in all subjects, simultaneously great emphasis is placed on improving the language competences of teaching staff (especially in English language), as this process goes hand in hand with digitalization and IT skills. This was the reason why our school management decided to send our teachers on educational courses abroad, where they would improve their English language skills and at the same time learn new IT skills while developing their IT thinking
