The aim of this project was to improve the implementation of CLIL in our school. In previous projects we sent "non-language" teachers to language curses abroad where they could improve their language skills and also learned new methods like CLIL. We decided to send more teachers of other subjects to partner schools for job shadowing so that they could see the implementation of foreign language into regular lessons as good practice examples. Other language teachers were sent abroad to specialized courses of methodology, didactics and literature so that they could improve not only in those fields but also to learn soft skills by living abroad, to come back with new ideas, to share their experience with colleagues and pupils. Our special aim was the follow-up internationalization, expanding contacts and deeper coopearation with partner schools abraod. A unique opportunity how to strenghten thos contacts is personal visit. A new aim of this project was to host an invited expert from abroad in our school and also two group mobilities with pupils who had the opportunity to meets their peers, to experience local traditions, culture and to compare education systems and to learn something new directly "on the spot".
We are one of two grammar schools in Havířov. Our pupils study in 4 or 8-year-long type of studies and they have to study two foreign languages. Their great interest is to be involved in activities abroad - international projects, foreign educational trips, native speakers in lessons. Teachers are often involved in programmes of further education which broaden their knowledge. Our goal is to prepare our students for the study at universities in all range of subjetcs. Our prioritou is of course foreign language teaching which we try to make more interesting by extracurricular activities like edcuation abroad and foreign excursions, international cooperation projects like eTwinning or Erasmus+, native speakers in lessons, inviting experts to school, education out of school (libraries, cinemas, exhibitions, concerts, theatres, interactive exhibitions, museums, galleries), visits to employers nearby, competitions. We offer to our pupils a wide range of possibilities how to join voluntary activities, charities, clubs. However, the biggest potential is in programmes like Erasmus+ which enable students and teachers to get valuable experience during mobilities abroad.
