Background

The Primary and Secondary School and Kindergarten Ostrava-Bělský Les, B. Dvorského 1, focuses primarily on sports and language development within the school curriculum. The school strives to support language learning as thoroughly as possible: it offers free English Clubs for children, uses the services of a native speaker and, from the 2021/2022 school year, has started teaching non-language subjects using the CLIL method, in particular in the subjects of history, journalism, media education, science, music education, health education, and civics. The school is currently working on extending CLIL to other subjects. In the area of sports, individual programs are being implemented from the school year 2021/2022, which involve combining sports practice, especially for hockey players, with the school curriculum. The school provides comprehensive care for the hockey players, including meals, transport to and from practice, and accommodation for children from remote areas. The school aims to improve the quality of education provided, especially in the above-mentioned areas of language learning and sports.
