The main objective of the project was to raise students' awareness of climate change, to support their active participation in combating its impacts and to raise awareness of the actions that each individual can take to contribute to sustainability. The second objective of the project was to develop the participants' ability to work in culturally, linguistically and socially diverse teams, to overcome cultural barriers and to support tolerance and a sense of European cooperation. Supporting a sense of international cooperation is also linked to another objective - improving the participants' communication skills in English and other foreign languages and motivating them to deepen and broaden these skills. The project also aimed at improving the participants' digital skills and teaching them how to use digital tools effectively and safely to communicate, cooperate, create and share content.
Our school provides general grammar school education within a four-year and six-year study programme, with a focus on foreign languages and a chance to specialise in science, humanities or computer science after the first, or first three years of study. The school is a member of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet), which involves students in projects that develop intercultural understanding, protection of cultural and natural heritage and sustainability. Our school is aware of the need to foster a sense of sustainability in the younger generation and to promote their active involvement in the fight against climate change and its impacts, and is interested in broadening its students' education in this area. Given the institution's focus on foreign languages, the school is also interested in developing international cooperation, teaching the students how to overcome cultural and linguistic barriers and work in international teams. The school is also interested in developing virtual international cooperation by means of secure digital communication tools, and implementing digital technologies not only as a modern and efficient, but also environmentally friendly way of creating and sharing educational content.
