Objectives

Our goal was to increase the professional and linguistic competence of pupils/students and teachers. Pupils/students built on previous practical experience from pedagogical and social practice in kindergartens, primary schools and other pedagogical and social facilities. They gained new experience and skills, had the opportunity to compare practical teaching in our and foreign institutions, and expand their competences. Internships contributed to their greater independence, responsibility and ability to deal with new stimuli. Teachers improved their professional and language skills both in shadowing and in language courses. They dispelled worries, fear of the language barrier, gained more confidence in their work, learned to use new methods and organizational forms in teaching. We consider the project to be complex and very successful. All participants gained new concrete experience, skills and necessary competences for their further development.

Background

Our school is the only school in Prague in its focus. There is a lot of interest in the school. We cannot satisfy the interest of pupils and students. At the secondary school, we implement three educational fields: 1) Preschool and after-school pedagogy (PMP) 2) Pedagogical Lyceum (PL) 3) Grammar School (G) PMP and PL students participated in this project. Within of the higher vocational school, we offer two educational fields: 1) Preschool and after-school pedagogy (PMP) 2) Social work and social pedagogy (SPSP) PMP and SPSP students participated in this project. Six teachers shadowed in similarly oriented schools and 6 participants completed English language courses. Most of the activities were related to pedagogical or social activities, which are essential for our school.
