Objectives

The project’s principal goals allowed the pupils to acquire new skills in direct care of clients in positioning, catering, and activation, simultaneously introducing the client’s electronic card for completing nursing documentation electronically. Slovak partner uses different ways of positioning clients, serving food and activation techniques in direct care. They also utilise the outdoor premises more often in good weather, employ different tools and procedures, and actively involve clients in preparations, which differs from our social care facilities. In accordance with the digitalisation of teaching, we purchased tablets; the project’s goal was to teach students to use them during work experience to complete nursing documentation. Pursuing the project, we created an electronic client’s card that students use to design and plan care electronically. The internship participants strengthened their professional and digital skill competencies by staying and working in a different environment, and they developed their personal qualities and perspective. New knowledge, skills and experience will improve their future position in the labour market.

Background

In this project, we enabled a selected group of apprentices from the second year of the Caregiver vocational training branch to complete two weeks, i.e., half of the relevant continuous work experience at a foreign workplace. On a long-term basis, our school provides vocational education, and we maintain long-standing and stable cooperation with social institution partners. For decades, our graduates have successfully entered the labour market as practical nurses, registered general nurses, and, newly, caregivers. With actual practice and innovations in healthcare and education, our institution perseveres with further education of workers and their transfer to teaching. Additionally, we focus on long-term cooperation with partners from foreign countries established in Germany and Italy, and we remain active in several projects. Furthermore, we continuously combine theoretical and practical teaching and develop our pupils’ professional, civic, and digital competencies aiming at their successful entering the open labour market. We also support pupils with special educational and social needs and pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds. Finally, we extend the introduction of IT tools into teaching.
