Ambis University (AU) has exceeded all its internationalization objectives set out at the beginning of the academic year 2023/2024. In March 2023, AU had only 17 international HEI partners for student and staff mobility and the great majority of the exchanges were for the ISCED 410 - Business and administration. More than half of these original partner institutions are in Hungary, Poland and Slovakia – destinations not very popular with our students – but are key partners for our Department of Science and Research and also are the HEIs where a number of our pedagogues and researchers have strong bonds. A dozen additional IIA partnerships were rekindled in the course of spring and summer of 2023 and the merger of Ambis University with Jan Amos Komenský University Prague (UJAK) in October 2023 began a process of conversion of those UJAK partners that had compatible study programs to the AU partner list. Presently, Ambis University has more than 50 exchange partners across the EU. Our focus is to solidify our presence in Erasmus+ programme countries before approaching HEIs in Erasmus+ partner countries. Thanks to the EWP dashboard and its functionality for IIA proposals this transition was possible in a relatively short span of time. AU now has more than a dozen partners in Spain and Portugal with whom we have a very lively SMS exchange. While at the beginning of 2023 only four incoming students were issued transcripts after their semester at AU, more than thirty incoming students are arriving for their Erasmus Welcome Day this semester! The majority of exchange students are from Spain and the incoming SMS mobility also includes sizable groups from Slovakia and Portugal as well as students from Italy and Turkey. The incoming students have selected classes from our expanded Erasmus+ course list that includes contributions from newly founded departments at AU. Our English-language class offering for incoming exchange students has tripled in three semesters. Business, economics and management have been part of AU's core curriculum since its origins in the 1990s when its predecessor served as a unit of the Czech National Bank, responsible for training staff and other stakeholders from newly-founded banking houses on the emerging Czech financial market. Today, AU offers a broad range of study programs the majority of which belong to three general areas: Business and administration, Education and psychology and Security management. AU is still much smaller than any public school and incoming exchange students from partner universities are welcome to choose Gen Ed electives from other study programs based on their home institutions' guidance. For example, out of our thirty incoming exchange students this semester more than half has signed up for the Cyber Crime elective course offered by the AU Department of Security Management. The course offers an overview of online security that will be a very valuable addition to any teacher’s, entrepreneur’s or administrator’s tool kit. Year 2023 was a breakthrough year for Ambis University not only due to the merger with Jan Amos Komenský University Prague but also because a year ago AU had two faculty-size departments: Business and Economics & Security Management. After major restructuring, Ambis University now has eight departments (Economics, Economy, and Public Administration; International Relations and Political Science; Law and Cybersecurity; Management and Human Resources; Marketing and Tourism; Pedagogy; Psychology and Social Sciences; Security Management) that enable individual pedagogues to better profile their work and study programs and teach in the English language. AU also proactively invites guest lecturers from partner institutions. Their teaching contributions inspire our own lecturers, connect them with their colleagues from partner HEIs and help them to prepare for their own future mobilities. Opportunities for linguistic and professional development as well as personal growth and the EU citizenry aspect for our outgoing mobility participants, students and staff alike, development and international profiling of our study programs and internationalization of Ambis University as a whole would not be possible without the Erasmus+ Programme – it is our international mobility lifeline. To demonstrate our resolve and commitment to the programme and our people, AU has used nearly all OM funding from ERA Grants 2022 for additional mobilities.
