Objectives

The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (AMU) has been an active participant in the Erasmus+ programme since its introduction in the Czech Republic in the academic year 1998/99. This initiative has played a pivotal role in advancing the internationalisation of our institution, with a strong emphasis on ensuring equal access and maintaining a high level of transparency. The Erasmus+ programme is integral to AMU's mission, as it supports both student and staff mobility across borders, promoting a rich exchange of ideas, experiences, and creative processes. Our primary goal has been to guarantee fair access and provide equal opportunities for all participants, irrespective of their socio-economic backgrounds, nationality, or other personal circumstances. Through Erasmus+ activities, AMU has actively facilitated educational, professional, and creative cultural exchanges that have proven to be fundamental for fostering mutual inspiration within the artistic community. These exchanges contribute not only to artistic development but also to a deeper understanding of different cultures, which is vital for nurturing democratic coexistence and enhancing the creative dialogue between diverse societies. Artistic collaboration across borders enriches the professional development of participants and encourages the sharing of best practices, which strengthens the overall quality of the education we offer. One of the key objectives of AMU’s engagement in Erasmus+ project 2022-1-CZ01-KA131-HED-000055884 has been the successful completion of all planned mobilities. Additionally, the academy has focused on broadening the range of inclusive mechanisms, particularly through the introduction of short-term blended mobilities, which combine virtual and physical exchanges. Another significant achievement was the realisation of our second Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), which brought together students and staff from four arts institutions for a mix of online and on-site learning activities in the field of montage. Despite these successes, the project also presented challenges. Notably, AMU experienced a sharp increase in interest in mobility programmes, with a 39% year-on-year rise in the number of outgoing mobilities. This surge required our team to adapt quickly to the increased demand, managing logistical, administrative, and financial complexities to ensure that all mobilities could be executed smoothly. In overcoming these challenges, AMU gained valuable experience, further strengthening its ability to provide high-quality international opportunities and solidifying its position as a key player in international artistic collaboration. These accomplishments reflect AMU’s commitment to fostering international cooperation and its continued contribution to the global artistic and academic community.
