Objectives

The project “World In Your Hands” consisted of one activity – a youth exchange that gathered young people from 3 countries (Czech Republic, Spain and Armenia) in the Czech Republic in June 2023. The project addressed two main topics: - Intercultural dialogue, cultural realities of other - And leadership + non-formal learning We decided to carry out the project based on three kinds of problems that we observed in youth groups that we work with. By carrying out the project, we aimed to address these 3 problems and initiate a positive change: - Young people being xenophobic and not showing interest in understanding other cultures - Young people not showing enough interest in their own country and culture - Young people realizing something needs to done in our society for promoting intercultural tolerance, but they don’t know how to For these reasons, we organized a youth exchange, that united young people from different cultures and gave them opportunity and motivation to learn about other cultures as well as to explore their own deeper and analyse its aspects. During the time we spent together, we had various discussions, played games and implemented other workshops in order to dive deeper into understanding the diversity of our cultures, customs, habits and opinions. The project adressed mainly intercultural learning. During the project, each national team was in charge of one day, during which they presented their country and culture to the others through a variety of non-formal learning activities. This way, the participants got engaged in a very interactive and variable process of getting to know other cultures directly from their representatives. By getting to know other cultures in more detail, they also gained motivation to fight against discrimination and prejudice in the future. The second main topic of the project was leadership and youth work. We wanted to not only build cultural awareness of young people, but at the same time to give them tools to multiply their experiences and share them effectively in their local areas and sending organisations. Therefore, we lead them to work on their leadership skills and learn how to organize an educational workshop for others (mainly by organizing their own national days). By connecting the intercultural values with the leadership and skills in non-formal education, we gave the young people the potential to promote positive social change, promote intercultural dialogue and break down prejudices. We motivated them to be more active in the society and to multiply the effect of the project by organizing promotional activities. These were the objectives of the project: 1. Intercultural dialogue - To work with the values of young people related to intercultural tolerance and fighting against xenophobia and racism, break cultural stereotypes. After the project, the participants will have knowledge about concrete cultures as well as about culture in general. 2. Leadership skills - To work with the skills of participants to lead an educational activity and to facilitate a learning process of others. After the project, the participants will be able to lead educational sessions and take active part in youth work. 3. Environmental protection - Through staying at a campsite in the middle of nature, the participants will learn a lot about "green" behaviour - being responsible, saving water and electricity, not wasting food, separating the waste, keeping the place clean, etc. In this sense, the project carried out at the campsite is much more beneficial for the participants than if we were staying in a hotel. 4. Promotion - To carry out at least two promotional local activities in each country after the project has ended – that means minimum 8 activities. This way work with the people in the local areas and make them more aware about cultural diversity and E+ projects. As for promotion, our project will also have a bulletin to be shared with other NGOs and broader public. 5. Exchange of good practices - To improve our cooperation with our partner organisations and exchange our know-how on working with values connected to intercultural tolerance and leadership. We will also plan further cooperation for the future. Because we kept the objectives in mind in all stages of project implementation, we managed to reach all of them.
