Objectives

When working with young people, one obstacle we usually face is that the participants in our workshops and projects, or the audience reading our articles, are not familiar with the workings of the EU and its programmes. For many of them, it is simply an incomprehensible entity that makes it difficult to establish a more human relationship. It is then difficult to offer them these opportunities and motivate them to participate when they lack basic knowledge. By implementing this youth exchange we wanted to address the lack of active participation of young people (especially Generation Z) and the need to increase the proportion of young people who are aware of the values, principles and role of the EU. At the same time, our organisation's aim is to support European youth in their search for educational and employment opportunities to improve their personal and professional development, so we realised that the implementation of this project would help us to work more effectively with youth on this topic and thus more easily achieve our objectives, to fulfil our organisation's mission. The main motivation is the great success of a previous youth exchange on a similar topic and our desire to replicate this success. The participants and the sending organization expressed their support for continuing with new accountants and for upgrading the program. Another motivation was the upcoming Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union and our desire to introduce the meaning of the Presidency to the youth. All these issues are essential for the further successful development of our European society, therefore the main objectives of YE are as follows: 1) to reach out to Europe's youth and provide them with a safe space to learn about their rights and responsibilities as citizens, the advantages and disadvantages of being an EU citizen 2) To raise awareness and provide knowledge on tolerance, respect for human and civil rights, citizenship in general and European citizenship through simulation games, study visits and teamwork in a multicultural environment. 3) To provide knowledge through non-formal education methods to understand the work and role of EU institutions and decision making in the EU, what are the possibilities to influence local policy 4) To encourage participants to think about European issues and involve them in decision making in their community, to help them understand what solidarity is and why it is important to promote it on a daily basis and how These detailed objectives are strongly linked to the objectives of Erasmus+ and Key Action 1, as the focus is on promoting the values of freedom, tolerance and respect for human rights. Through the implementation of this project, we aimed to contribute to the objectives of promoting European values and principles in line with the Treaty on European Union. In addition, we pursued the specific objective of Erasmus+, which encourages the improvement of the level of key competences and skills of the participants and the organisations involved, with particular regard to their relevance for the labour market and their contribution to a cohesive society, with an emphasis on the promotion of solidarity.
