We aimed to create an opportunity for our youth workers to practice understanding, clarity and acceptance. Especially including our Ukrainian partner (even before full scale invasion) we were aiming to address the topic of connection knowing that the situation in this country was very tense and full of hatred considering the war conflict with russia since 2014, and youth workers there seeked instruments to maintain as much strength and peace at the same time in contact with youth as possible. Yet also in other countries involved in this project CONFLICT and dealing with one ́s needs and emotions were a hot topic among young people and youth workers at the time of preparing this project. We recognized the need of youth workers to have tools and methods to improve communication and expression in their surroundings and in youth work, especially now in times of growing tension and conflicts on personal and global level. We recognized the need for a very specific tool for youth to create and share mutual understanding, compassion and connection. And we believed EMPATHIC communication (NVC) offered such tools - therefore we found it important for youth workers to be educated in this field in order to offer this approach in communication to young people in practice. The members of our organizations have frequently experienced insecurity, tensions and anger connected to Covid-19 situation and isolation and conflicts that it created among family/work members or generally in society. The communication we wanted to grow through this project was based on understanding other ́ s needs and expressing one's own. Our desire was to fix the dialog in places where it was clearly lacking peace and connection (such as Greece in terms of refugees still or Ukraine) and to spread the ideas and techniques which has been proven to work in very critical situations. OBJECTIVES Objectives we wanted to achieve: - to develop skills at the level of promoting solution oriented approach and living together in peace, hate-free; -to use NVC directly in communities and work place in follow up; - to train approaches and techniques of Non-Violent Communication (NVC) on how to manage crisis such as (post) pandemic conditions, resolve conflicts and build bridges for society members; - to support educators, youth workers, NGO workers etc in finding solutions for the issues they see around them, by discovering the potential they have in bringing the change through NVC; - to train attitudes from the different European and Neighboring countries towards the peaceful and full of compassion dialog; -to bring change into organizations and education centers through changed and non-violent approach in communication of their workers.
