Objectives

The project "We Are One: Harmony in Diversity" was designed to give participants (especially youth workers) a better insight into the issue of conflict resolution at its inception and to help participants create ways to embed the values they have learned in their own environment and spread this conflict prevention there as well. These values include diversity, its protection and the promotion of different cultures as precious assets of societies and nations as an essential part of these values. The project helped youth workers to understand their own uniqueness, their own value, their own role and influence in society. This in turn also helped to foster respect for each other's differences, understanding and appreciation of others, resulting in open communication, understanding and acceptance of each other in society. The aim of our project was to spread democratic peaceful values that help to create a harmonious European community for all people without any differences, especially among young youth workers. Participants recognized the differences between themselves and each other and learned to respect each other, cooperate and live in a community where everyone feels valuable and people can resolve conflicts with each other in a non-violent way. We wanted to achieve this through the delivery of the above mentioned topics based on the Peace Education curriculum through theoretical lectures, discussions, videos, activities and a practical part during which participants will learn to prepare peace education lessons in their sending organization and country. We have planned for 27 youth workers to attend each training course and work together to develop lesson plans which they will then apply in their practice in their sending organisations. At the same time, a methodology will emerge from the whole project explaining how to apply peace education in practice through the development of lesson plans, including pre-lesson situation analysis and post-lesson feedback.
