The main aim of our project was to use movies as a non-formal educational tool to teach young people aged 14-19 about contemporary realities. Based on the needs analysis of the partner countries and the state of play were defined objectives: - Build a network of four youth organisations that will use movies as educational tools in collaboration with schools and other entities. - Engage 400 young people from four European communities through movies to explore societal realities such as climate change, human rights, citizenship, tolerance, European values, and political systems. - Create a freely accessible educational kit, including films and guidelines, for non-formal learning on contemporary issues. - Promote European Cinema and Film Festivals to highlight the importance of European identity and community. - Teach young people how to develop a healthier relationship with digital tools and media content. These objectives aim to foster critical thinking, inclusivity, and active citizenship while celebrating European values and culture. Towards the partners realities the project brought the change in the formal curriculum for young people and in quite common way as movie is open the mind and show new horizons.
All partners agreed on the need to deal with the gap between young people and the current society issues. As all partner work in the youth field and the non-formal education they wanted to provide the support and guidance through the NFE and movies as a tool. The choice of the tool was linked to the proviso local experience of one of the partner and this project was possible follow-up with transnational experience and impact. Young people often spend most of their time in classrooms or at home, which makes it hard for them to connect with big issues like climate change, the environment, media and others. Movies can open a window to these topics, giving them a chance to see and think about the world beyond their everyday lives. This project helps young people reflect on these issues through non-formal education using films. Project tackled real challenges faced by the four partner countries. Especially to the VET school and rural areas the project brought new topics, approach, opportunities for reflection, innovation and inclusion. This project wasn't just about learning facts. It helps young people understand their world, grow personally, and become active citizens who can make a real difference in their communities.
