The aim of the project was to make available to all interested parties the theoretical and practical knowledge of the design, installation, adjustment and maintenance of induction loops to meet the technical parameters set out in the legal standards (IEC 60118-4, in the Czech Republic Decree of the Ministry of Industry and Trade No. 398/2009 Coll. In order to make the scope of the project as broad as possible, partners from Slovenia (Racio, Cejle) and Slovakia (ANEPS, Žilina) were invited to participate in the project. This international dimension of the project allowed to compare the conditions and experiences with the expansion of IL networks, including related legislation and specific education of people with hearing impairment in the partner countries.

Background

Please start the introductory video "Real Life Pictures 1". Available at: https://ilooptimalforall.unb.cz/web-stories/indukcni-smycka-v-koline/ or skip it. The project addressed the needs of people with hearing disabilities using hearing aids or cochlear implants to reduce the communication barrier between them and mainstream intact society. With these communication aids, a significant increase in efficiency can be achieved without the user having to invest any additional funds. The condition is to equip the places where listening conditions are to be improved with a simple but effective device called an 'induction loop' (IL). This is a simple, time-tested device. However, if it is to serve users well, it must be properly designed, installed and adjusted. And that was the problem. In the Czech Republic, apart from the UNB beneficiary, there were no certified companies or individuals systematically interested in this area. Therefore, in many places IL was installed, but its effectiveness was low. The project improved this situation substantially. Thanks to its support, it was possible to prepare written and AV training materials and to start a series of training events with their support.
