The main objective of the DEED project was to develop and promote innovative educational tools that strengthen green competences among VET learners and educators. We aimed to create a flexible, modular training program based on microlearning methods, making sustainability education accessible, engaging, and adaptable to different VET contexts. In addition, the project sought to modernize teaching practices through the use of digital resources, introduce a microcertification scheme to motivate learners and recognize their achievements, and support VET teachers in integrating environmental topics into their curricula. Overall, DEED contributed to aligning VET education with European sustainability priorities, enhancing digital teaching capacities, and empowering students with skills essential for the green transition.
The DEED project was initiated in response to the urgent need to strengthen green competences among VET learners and educators, aligning education with the priorities of the European Green Deal and the growing demand for sustainability skills in the labor market. Partners identified that while awareness of environmental issues was increasing, there was a significant lack of accessible, practical educational resources specifically tailored for VET contexts. Additionally, VET teachers often lacked digital tools and training methods to effectively integrate green topics into their curricula. The project addressed these needs by developing a flexible, modular green competence training program based on microlearning principles, supported by a digital platform and microcertification scheme. By doing so, DEED aimed to empower both educators and learners to actively contribute to a more sustainable future and to modernize VET education to meet evolving societal and labor market needs.
