Objectives

Fachhochschule Dortmund - University of Applied Sciences and Arts sees itself as a large regional HEI in an international working and educational landscape and as a space to experience and live internationality. Based on the Higher Education Development Plan (HEP), Fachhochschule Dortmund has developed its own internationalization strategy. The following goals have been defined for the area of "International Affairs": students and graduates become fit for the global working world, university employees acquire intercultural competencies and live internationality, university teachers and scientists gain international experience and network worldwide. Fachhochschule Dortmund- University of Applied Sciences and Arts strives to increase the mobility of students in the first and second study cycle. In particular, semesters abroad at qualified international universities or voluntary internships abroad are generally encouraged and supported through extensive advising and financial incentives. Staff mobilities are also supported by advisory services and a wide range of offers. The strategic goal of Fachhochschule Dortmund to increase student mobilities was achieved in 2022. Due to the pandemic in previous years, student numbers were at a new high and even exceeded the requested volume. The figures of staff mobilities and student traineeships were at a stable level but funded from the previous project.
