At the University of Passau, Erasmus+ is a firmly established programme to support the international mobility of students and employees. Through cooperations with partner universities and partner institutions, the programme aims to promote academic exchange and contribute to the development of intercultural skills and European cooperation. The experience and networks gained should bring the participants long-term personal and professional benefits and strengthen their European identity. The challenges during the project period have shown how important a united Europe is in overcoming crises. The Erasmus+ programme aims to enable students and employees to get to know the benefits of the EU and to pass these on. A stay abroad is compulsory in several degree programmes, with the majority of students choosing European partner universities/internship institutions. In addition, double degree programmes lead to compulsory mobilities within Europe. At the University of Passau, the offer of subject-specific foreign language training also motivates students to go abroad outside of a compulsory mobility programme. As many students require financial support in order to study abroad or complete an internship, this is made possible through the mobility grant and tuition fee waiver within the framework of Erasmus+. The financial support through Erasmus+ also creates additional incentives for mobilities in other European countries and for employees at the University of Passau to gain international experience. The core objectives of the higher education agreement between the University of Passau and the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts include internationalisation and Europe. In addition, the Vice President for International Affairs and Diversity focuses on internationalisation in general and Europe in particular, as well as cross-border cooperations, among other topics.
