The University of Siegen is a medium-sized university in the center of Germany with a broad range of degrees from the Humanities and Social Science, Architecture and Fine Arts, Business and Economics as well as Engineering and Natural Sciences. The Erasmus+ program is the largest funding scheme for international mobility in all subjects. The program contributes substantially to the University’s guiding principle Shaping a Humane Future by enabling mobility for all status groups within the University, facilitating collaboration, and maintaining long-lasting partnerships among partners in the program countries. This funding covers the vast majority of student exchanges, the regional focus mirrors the student's interest in neighboring European countries. Having an international experience, be it study abroad or an internship, is an important part of a well-rounded university education. The goal of this project was to stabilize the number of student mobilities and address all the uncertainties and concerns students have developed in recent years about being internationally mobile with advising and support in the International Office. Raising awareness about the program, its support mechanisms, and its benefits – both academically and socially – were supposed to support the catching-up process after the pandemic years. The second priority was to successfully launch the top-ups throughout the entire university, eventually encouraging more students to make use of them. In summary, the University of Siegen managed to stabilize the number of mobile students. However, still more marketing and awareness about the advantages of study abroad are needed to address the students' manifold issues - such as growing uncertainties about international experiences as well as a higher number of annulments than in previous projects.
