The University of Stuttgart is committed to continuing on its path to becoming an internationally leading research university. Internationalization is a qualitative process which affects all departments and member groups at the university, with their array of international activities. It is the basis of increasing the university`s competitiveness in the Stuttgart region with a number of global market-leading companies and of developing its graduates into innovative, socially responsible, globally conscious and interculturally educated people. Through the implementation of the Erasmus+ program, the University of Stuttgart pursues several key goals closely linked to the institution's international orientation and its commitment to providing high-quality education. The University of Stuttgart strives to offer its students a wide range of international experiences and qualifications. These diverse opportunities include studies/internships abroad, research projects/thesis, and research stays at foreign universities/companies, as well as participating in short-term programs, blended-learning formats, and language courses. The goal is to create an attractive, diverse, and easily accessible offer that allows all students to find a suitable mobility option for their individual situation. This enables them to enhance their academic skills, improve language proficiency, and develop intercultural abilities. Besides the students, the university's teaching and administrative staff benefit from the promotion of international mobility. By participating in the program, they can actively engage in the cross-departmental internationalization of the university. In addition the University of Stuttgart regards staff mobility as an integral part of its continuing education culture and therefore as part of its human resources development. By participating in the Erasmus+ program, the University of Stuttgart also aims to promote academic cooperation and innovation. This is intended to intensify research and teaching partnerships with international partners. The exchange of knowledge, research findings, and best practices significantly supports the development of innovative solutions to societal and technological challenges. Close collaborations with European partner universities aim to internationalize and further develop study programs. This enables University of Stuttgart students to access a broader spectrum of academic content and teaching methods, thereby improving the quality and relevance of higher education. In addition to the professional development of students and staff, the University of Stuttgart expects that participation in the Erasmus+ program will strengthen participants’ intercultural sensitivity and tolerance, while helping them to develop a better understanding of global contexts. Ideally, the experience within the European context will foster awareness of European values and encourage participants to engage actively in society and enhance their sense of social responsibility. The principles of the Erasmus+ program are also of particular value in supporting the University of Stuttgart’s comprehensive diversity concept. The opportunity to not only provide disadvantaged students with easier access to international mobility through the Erasmus+ program but also to explicitly encourage them to take advantage of these opportunities is seen as a great asset. It is regarded as an additional enrichment to the extensive activities and initiatives of the Vice-Rectorate for Diversity and Internationalization.
