Objectives

At Paderborn University (UPB), the Erasmus+ project 2022 was characterised by both a continuation and further development of already existing and new partnerships and a continuation of the format of Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP). We could increase the number of digitally concluded inter-institutional agreements via Erasmus Without Paper. After the decrease in mobility numbers due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we intended to normalize student exchange again and to motivate students and staff to start a mobility experience abroad. Additionally, by offering short-term blended mobility for outgoing students, we intended to both foster the mutual cooperation with specific partner Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and to enable students to participate in BIPs abroad, in particular in study areas with limited long-term mobility possibilities. It was our goal to attract more students taking part in a BIP at one of our partner institutions as well as integrating students from partner institutions of KA171 in Blended Intensive Programmes taking place at Paderborn University. With Erasmus+, Paderborn University aims at making quality stays abroad possible for its students by supporting them financially and organisationally. By supporting teaching activities at partner institutions as well as contact journeys to (future) partner institutions, we pursue the goal to further expand as well as strengthen the (existing) cooperation network with Higher Education Institutions. We aim especially at increasing the number of inter-institutional agreements in different study fields with existing partners in order to offer a wider range of qualitative stays abroad to Paderborn students and hence to be able to increase the number of mobilities. At an early stage, we introduced structures to technically implement Erasmus Without Paper and hence foster digitalisation at Paderborn University. Internationalisation is also particularly embedded in our digitalisation strategy, envisaging for instance the development of bi- and transnational digital teaching formats with cooperation partners, especially in collaboration with partners within the European University Initiative. Blended Intensive Programmes are one example to realize these formats. With the inclusion of KA131 International in our strategy, we focus on the continuation and strengthening of the bonds with our partner institutions in the United Kingdom.
