Excellence and continuity are the backbone of the Ernst Busch University's international strategy. Our international activities are guided by the principles of equality, freedom and tolerance. We endeavour to select partner universities that share similar teaching methods, rely on comparable curricula and commit themselves to core European values. Transcultural engagement in the field of performing arts means exploring different theatre traditions and finding new ways of expressing creativity on stage, in film and in the independent scene. To this end, we are constantly in the process of defining and redefining the art of theatre in all its particular forms and manifestations. Our institution has a long history, dating back to the foundation of Germany's first acting school in 1905. With its exclusive focus on stage arts and its own studio theatre, the university provides outstanding expertise in the fields of acting, directing, contemporary puppetry and related performing arts. Students are at the centre of our efforts to promote intercultural exchange and to advance teaching methods. Ernst Busch University conceives itself as a laboratory where students are encouraged to develop their artistic skills and personalities alongside dedicated teachers who have close ties to theaters, cultural institutions and partner universities. Political awareness and European values are firmly anchored in the self-conception of our institution. At the same time, open-mindedness is another guiding principle in the expansion of our international reach. As a consequence, the Ernst Busch University decided to welcome institutions of the arts from partner countries in the Global South in its circle of cooperating universites for the first time during this Erasmus generation. We are constantly striving to diversify our exchange destinations and to reach out to countries whose indigenous theatre traditions can broaden our understanding of the performing arts and provide innovative impetus for future developments. The main aim of the project was to provide all our students and staff with the opportunity to gain valuable intercultural experience, fostering their personal and professional develpoment. Another key objective of the project was the strengthening of our global presence and institutional partnerships. In this context, we successfully established new cooperation agreements with renowned performing arts institutions in France, Italy, Poland, and Mexico. Another objective of the Erasmus 2022 project at Ernst Busch University was to encourage administrative and teaching staff in their participation of exchange activities in order to support the professional development of our collegues in accordance with the personnel development concept.
