Objectives

The Erasmus+ KA171 project between the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt (EHD) and the University of the Western Cape (UWC) aimed to foster an intensive academic and intercultural exchange between students and teaching staff in the field of Social Work at both institutions. The project focused on seminars on anti-racist social work, which were mainly implemented as blended short-term mobilities for incoming students. This thematic focus is of high historical and current relevance in both countries. By combining theoretical content from the seminars with the practical experiences gained during the mobilities, the participants were to be enabled to identify mechanisms of social exclusion and to actively promote social participation and inclusion. The project particularly sought to involve students with fewer opportunities who, for personal reasons, were unable to participate in long-term mobility. In the long term, a joint publication based on the students’ experiences as well as the development of joint teaching content on anti-racist social work are planned.
