Objectives

The Erasmus+ program is a central instrument to foster internationalization according to the goals defined in FH Kiels internationalization strategy. One of the main objectives is to strengthen a long-standing international cooperation with the University of Pretoria and to diminish financial or social mobility barriers in mobility activities for both students and staff. The exchange supports the institutional goal of increasing international teaching with regard to both international staff at the institution as well as internationally diverse topics. International exchange adds new perspectives to the curriculum and enriches the course portfolio students can choose from. Through the regular presence, joint projects are more easily established and promoted. The project is meant to foster exchange and support internationalization at home. Local students become engaged with members from our partner university. This does not only enrich the cultural experience and therefore the quality of university life, but it also encourages mobility plans among local students. This way, non-mobile students had the opportunity for intercultural exchange on campus. Moreover, students were encouraged to start a mobility for themselves.
