Objectives

The project aimed to strengthen existing partnerships and establish new double degree structures in the field of International Business between Mainz University of Applied Sciences and partner universities in Albania, Ethiopia, Uganda and Rwanda. It is a strategic decision of Mainz University to use Erasmus KA171 funding exclusively for projects that are part of existing or developing double degree agreements. Long-standing double degree programmes already exist with Addis Abeba University in Ethiopia and Epoka University in Albania, while the cooperation with Uganda and Rwanda was specifically supported in order to develop such agreements through initial mobilities. The project’s objective was twofold: (1) to offer highly qualified students from economically disadvantaged regions the opportunity to study in Germany and obtain an additional German degree, and (2) to use student and staff mobility as a strategic tool to deepen institutional cooperation, especially in the context of preparing or expanding double degree agreements. Another important aspect was the inclusion of students from rural or structurally weaker backgrounds, particularly in Ethiopia.
