Objectives

The long-standing cooperation between the Institute for Political Science at the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) and the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy (LECIAD) at the University of Ghana should be further expanded. Close scientific and academic ties have existed since 2011 and were formalised in a memorandum of understanding in 2015. The proposed funding would serve to stabilise and deepen these structures. The focus was on student and teacher mobility in both directions in order to incorporate mutual academic perspectives and promote the internationalisation of both institutions. Particular attention was paid to the integration of African perspectives into the UDE's master's programmes and to the opportunity for Ghanaian master's and doctoral students to gain access to European research, methodological training and scientific networks. The exchange was intended to enable teaching and administrative staff to expand their skills and strengthen institutional cooperation. Overall, the project aimed to structurally anchor cooperation and promote social inclusion.
