The cooperation with universities from South East European neighbouring countries has a long and conscious tradition within the international strategy of Heidelberg University. With this project Heidelberg University (UHD) and its two partner universities from the region (the University of Sarajevo (UNSA) and the University of Montenegro (UoM) intended to continue their cooperation realized through the successful applications in the previous calls. The purpose was to strengthen sustainable relations among the partners, raise the awareness of students and staff for the partner institution, involve new areas of study in the cooperation by establishing contacts among scientists as well as focus on developing joint projects in some core disciplines. The application focused on long term partners of Heidelberg University with already well established academic and administrative contacts. The colleagues in charge of the implementation of the program are known from cooperation in different contexts. This background provided a solid infrastructure for a smooth and successful continuation of the mobility program.
