The Erasmus+ program has developed into a globally recognized project that contributes to the mobility and internationalization of European higher education institutions. Reutlingen University successfully implemented the KA131 project and therefore wanted to expand its activities to include further projects for regions outside the European Union. The university focused on departments that are less active in the international arena in order to promote new programs and contribute to their international development. For this reason, Reutlingen University selected the Sub-Saharan Africa region for the 2022 call for proposals for the KA171 project. On the other hand, another main focus was on promoting communication and supporting initiatives at the ESB Business School for projects with Africa, as well as financing student mobility for project work in the field of sustainability. The joint efforts of staff mobility to build relationships with universities, complemented by the admission of students to the laboratories, were intended to position sub-Saharan Africa as a comprehensive region and an interesting location for students and staff.
