Objectives

One of the most important objectives is the strengthening and acquisition of self-reliance and self-confidence. After finishing their training programs, our trainees have to face the first job market and compete with people without handicaps. Demonstrating mobility and intercultural competence and having gained experience abroad increases our trainees’ chances to a great extent and helps compensating for disadvantages resulting from their handicaps. The acquisition or deepening of language skills also plays a significant role and greatly enhances the employment prospects of young apprentices with physical and/or mental disabilities.

Background

At the BBWN, young people are being trained outside of a company, i.e. the practical part takes place in well-equipped training companies or on shop floors. Through the Erasmus+ mobility program trainees are gaining valuable experiences at cooperation companies. Our apprentices work within the operational processes of foreign partners for several weeks or months. This is aimed at enabling them to gain practical and professional experience, acquaint themselves with unfamiliar work environments, and integrate into the community of the foreign company. During their leisure time, participants are encouraged to gather experiences related to the culture and mentality of the host country, thereby acquiring intercultural competencies that are essential in today's job market.
