Objectives

The project was to be implemented with a heterogeneous group (including students with a migration background or refugees) from the fields of mechatronics, electrical engineering, computer science and mechanical engineering. The aim was to put into practice theoretical teaching content from various subject areas and areas of responsibility, some of which was relevant to other disciplines: e.g. functional relationships in technical systems, project management, production and manufacturing processes, electronic assemblies, circuits (cf. Lehrplan Fachoberschule Beruflicher Lernbereich - Fachrichtung Technik, 2006). By producing their own active loudspeaker box, the students should be able to better understand the interrelationships and functions of this technical unit against the background of topics and tasks already covered in class (e.g. problem analysis of technical systems, understanding technical drawings, product documentation, team-oriented work, use of current media (video documentation) - with the support of the teachers if necessary). if necessary with the support of the teachers. The students should learn how to use tools and work techniques safely and appropriately.

Background

Since the vocational high school has a focus on electrical engineering, information technology and mechanical engineering, the construction of an active loudspeaker box from plastic elements (PVC pipes) and electronic components as well as various tools is a way of linking theory and practice. The project "Active loudspeaker box" was planned by colleagues from the vocational school branch (metal and electrical engineering). To construct the box, the students had to deal with theoretical and practical work steps and master them cooperatively. As our partner school in Chinon is a vocational school with a similar focus, this project was particularly suitable. The traditional core of our school is the vocational school, where we act as a partner to the training companies within the framework of dual training and enable the trainees to acquire the theoretical vocational knowledge for the final examination. Parallel to the vocational school lessons, further general qualifications can also be achieved at the BWS during the training (lower secondary school leaving certificate, intermediate secondary school leaving certificate, advanced technical college entrance qualification, Abitur).
