At our school internships are compulsory and the chance to do one part of it in another European country is something we wanted the students to profit from.
The students should get used to working independently in an international surrounding. Furthermore they had to organize their stay, which should contribute to boost their self-esteem. Using and improving foreign lanugage skills can also be important for their further school career (final exams in English) and for better chances on the European job market.
