In implementing our project, we aimed to highlight the benefits of STEM fields and encourage women to consider technical careers. Our vision aimed not only to raise awareness of innovative technologies among a wider public, especially the older generation, but also to highlight the career opportunities and educational pathways available. It was our ambition to provide women over 45 with the necessary resources and skills to remain competitive in the ever-changing labour market. To this end, we designed a comprehensive communication strategy, including an intensive presence on social media and posts on EPALE, to highlight our more informal educational offer. Our aim was to create a professional community for all interested women so that they feel empowered not to have to compete as lone warriors against existing structures.
Women are underrepresented in the natural sciences and engineering, especially women over 45. In view of the diverse management of global crises and in the face of advancing digitalisation, continuous training efforts are indispensable. It is essential to foster the confidence of these women and reassure them that they can succeed in these sectors. However, it is observed that many people of advanced age are not aware of the learning resources available globally, which are often easily accessible. Moreover, they often lack the belief that they can hold their own in the modern, technology-driven world and contribute to shaping it. They tend to hide behind the idea that current developments do not match their intellectual level. It is our declared goal to provide and motivate them with the necessary knowledge and skills for future fields of work.
