Objectives

The MetaNFT project aimed to achieve several key objectives by implementing the MetaNFT project. The primary goal was to train VET trainees in creating NFTs and using the Metaverse as a platform for showcasing and selling their digital creations. By doing so, the project intended to open new career opportunities and boost entrepreneurship among the students in the world of digital economy. Furthermore, the project aimed to improve the employability of VET students by equipping them with digital marketing and content creation skills, which are becoming increasingly demanding in today’s job market. Another major objective was to support VET providers in updating and integrating these new digital skills into their curricula so as to ensure that the future students would continue to benefit from training in NFTs and the Metaverse. Finally, by the project also aimed to contribute to the EU’s digital transformation agenda by fostering innovation and creativity in the VET sector.

Background

The MetaNFT project was initiated to address the growing need for digital skills in the VET sector, particularly in the field of art. The increasing popularity of the Metaverse and NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) as new digital frontiers for content creation and commerce has created opportunities that many VET students, especially those from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds, are not aware of nor equipped to take advantage of. The project focused on art VET students, who already had creative skills but lacked knowledge about using such emerging technologies. Following this thought, by applying for this project, the partners aimed to bridge this gap and provide VET trainees with the digital competencies needed to create NFTs, market them in the Metaverse, and increase their employability. The MetaNFT project addressed the EU priority of digital transformation and the need for educational institutions to adapt their curricula in a way that better matches the needs of the labour market which are constantly changing.
