Objectives

Our goals with regard to environmental protection and climatic change were, on one hand, to raise awareness of the problems of the stone-extracting and processing industry, the construction boom, the urban sprawl, and overtourism - all topics that affect directly our regions and which become so more and more negative for the living environment of the participants. We liked also to show possible solutions as to how these problems could be at least partially reduced or even avoided by minimizing the use of resources. Recycling, renaturalization, ecological building with traditional materials, revitalizing established village centers and restored old houses are perfect examples. The participants themselves set a good example and made their contribution to achieving the objective, e.g. avoiding disposable tableware, plastic bags and environmentally harmful materials at the project meetings, by this reducing waste and disposing of it properly . Our objective of increasing the attractiveness of vocational training was pursued through the active participation of trainees from the relevant companies showing how the participants were prepared for the requirements of the job market.

Background

The degradation of natural resources (volcanic rock) irreversibly destroys the existing ecosystem. However, it has been an important economic factor for millennia, shaped the landscape, art and architecture of the region and is now also an important tourism factor. Companies are upgrading digitally and technologically in order to eliminate or minimize negative effects. Recycling and renaturation measures are being carried out successfully. This context motivated the project coordinator to start a project around the "Volcano" theme and to find her partners. By this project we tried to continue and to deepen the European orientation of our schools in the future as realizing European international exchanges activities is extremely popular with our students and trainees. They serve s to sharpen our profile in relation to other vocational schools and has been the basis for our K1, K2 and eTwinning activities (language, professional exchange and project management courses) involving an increasing part of our colleagues, trainees and students. By this project we liked to demonstrate the attractiveness of vocational training and, through the requirements of an international environment, also compare our standards of training.
