GaGEN – Using serious Games to engage cross-GENerations into awareness on climate change” aims to offer an intergenerational learning approach to environmental education, by using serious games in a digital format. The goal is to increase awareness on the impact of climate changes in everyday living among kids and seniors, introducing concept of circular economy, as well as to increase self-awareness on the potential role kids and seniors have as change agents in climate change
The GaGEN project was developed in response to the increasing need to raise environmental awareness among different generations and to promote intergenerational dialogue on climate-related issues. Across partner countries, both children and seniors are key groups affected by climate change but often have limited opportunities to learn and act together. The project addressed the need for innovative educational tools that engage both age groups, support active learning, and foster cooperation. Additionally, partners identified a lack of accessible, digital, and simulation-based resources that could promote environmental education in an inclusive, playful and meaningful way. GaGEN aimed to fill this gap by creating an intergenerational digital game supported by a structured methodological and pedagogical framework
