Students should come up with good ideas how to save water at school, so the project would have a direct and positive effect on our schools. Even if less measurable, the intercultural experience, new impressions, the opportunity to speak English in an authentic context and to gain new digital competencies, all of these opportunities were supposed to have a lasting effect for every single participant.
As an "Eco School" Schillerschule has had a long tradition of working together with its partner schools on interesting environmental topics in Erasmus+ projects. It has a focus on natural sciences, arts and music, and languages. Notably, it offers a wide range of bilingual education, allowing students to obtain both the Abitur and the International Baccalaureate. In 2020, the Schillerschule was awarded the title "European School in Lower Saxony" for its language profile and international work. It is also an "Environmental School in Europe". Since 2013, aspects of sustainable development have been developed and enhanced through Erasmus+ projects with long-term partners. The Schillerschule received the "Erasmus+ Success Story" award for the last three-year project, "Drops of Awareness", which this project served as follow-up to. The students who now participated in this short-term project had already worked on the mentioned project in grade 9, but had been unable to meet the students from other countries in person. Now, in grade 10, these students continued working on the topic "Future of Water" as part of this project and participated in the planned mobilities.
