In addition to improving language skills in English, it was also about intercultural experience and experiencing other European cultures and ways of life. The students should also acquire professional competence with regard to the respective project topic and improve their ability to act in intercultural encounters.
Within this short term project we actually realized two project, i.e. two student exchanges. Project 1: Student exchange with Lerbäckskolan Lund, Sweden on the topic of "Fake news and democracy". In both school years 2022/23 and 2023/24 groups of students from grade 8 went on a short term mobility at the Swedish school, where they spent a week in host families and participated in Swedish school life as well as taking part in work shops and excursions on the project topic. Project 2: In this trinational partnership with Collège Thomas Mann from Paris, France and Helinium Hellevoetsluis, The Netherlands each year (2022/23 and 2023/24) project meetings were held at each of the three partner shools that each included participants from all three schools that are currently taught in (German) grade 9. In the first project year the topic was "Bees and biodiversity" and in the second project year it was "Sustainable Energies". The students did workshops, excursions and experiments in the project language English as well as getting to know the educational system and culture of the host country. Students were accommodated in host families during their stays abroad.
