The students experience the European diversity through the project work, but also through the meetings in other countries or at their own school, learn about special features and similarities in comparison with the European partners. The children also secure their language skills with regard to English, but also the other languages of our partners, through the contacts, but also through the work on the project results. By working on the topics of energy, waste separation, flora and fauna, insights into sustainability in a European comparison are developed and strengthened. All students, including girls and boys with special needs, are integrated into the work. In a European comparison, we learn from each other how and under what prerequisites for success optimal integration can be made possible. In the project work, but also in the preparation, implementation and follow-up of the project meetings, the children, but also the teachers and educators use modern digital media. This greatly strengthens their skills and abilities.
Our school is located in a rural region of Thuringia. The students, but also the teachers, experience increasing internationalization in their everyday life and learning. Many children from different nations are integrated into school life. Some of the teachers and educators at the school come from other European countries. In this way, the children experience the influences from other European countries on a daily basis. This means that learning other languages is of great importance. The pupils of our school learn the English language when they start school and other languages within the framework of study groups. The children experience a changing environment. Signs of climate change cannot be overlooked in our homeland either. Dealing with these changes has become an indispensable task of daily life for many families. Our school has a large number of students with special educational needs. They are fully integrated into the class associations. Without the proper handling of all digital media, but also the print media, elementary school-oriented teaching, targeted support and project work is not possible.
