Objectives

The "Peripheral Learning" project aims to cultivate essential competencies in students to address learning disadvantages, early school leaving, and low proficiency in basic skills. By promoting a comprehensive approach to language teaching, we empower students to become more confident and proficient in their language abilities. Innovative strategies like work-based learning engage students in real-world language applications, enhancing practical skills. Our project emphasizes teaching foreign languages to bridge intercultural, intergenerational, and social divides. By fostering cultural understanding and empathy, students appreciate diversity and inclusivity. Language exchange programs and multicultural activities broaden perspectives and build community connections. Central to our project are the promotion of common values, civic engagement, and participation. Instilling social responsibility and active citizenship, students positively contribute to their communities. Service-learning projects and civic education initiatives develop leadership skills, making students agents of change. Integrating these aspects into our educational approach creates natural learning environments that motivate students to excel.

Background

We applied for this project because we recognize the critical importance of promoting a comprehensive approach to language teaching and learning in school education. Our primary focus aligns with the project's objective of enhancing language education to empower students with essential communication skills. Additionally, we are committed to addressing learning disadvantages, reducing early school leaving rates, and improving proficiency in basic skills, which are crucial priorities within the realm of school education. Furthermore, our initiative resonates with the overarching goal of fostering common values, civic engagement, and participation across communities. By integrating these principles into our educational endeavors, we aim to cultivate a sense of social responsibility and active citizenship among students. In our project, we aim to tackle various issues such as work-based learning, the teaching and learning of foreign languages, and bridging intercultural, intergenerational, and social divides. Through innovative pedagogical approaches and strategic partnerships, we endeavor to create inclusive learning environments that celebrate diversity and promote understanding among individuals from different backgrounds.
