The main aim of the project was to make cross-border learning mobilities accessible to young people who were not or rarely reached by them in the past, especially those who attended secondary schools. The initiative is aimed at students from Leipzig and other Saxonian communities, with schools in marginalized districts that have previously had little contact with extracurricular or international youth activities being selected. The schools often identify themselves in areas that were characterized by a high proportion of needy communities, minors in needy communities, selected AfD voters, racism and xenophobia. The goal of this project was not only to provide this group with international opportunities, but also to demonstrate the integrative nature of international youth engagement. The project also promotes the participation of young people by taking their wishes and needs into account when designing the individual encounters, strengthening their interest in civic engagement and introducing them to the EU and Europe as a potential learning environment. The project included training and collaboration with volunteer trainers and team members to advance international youth work both qualitatively and professionally. Dialogues have been initiated with professionals to exchange experiences and knowledge and thus disseminate best practices. The project also aimed to train youth work professionals in international activities, motivate them to conduct own international activities with their target groups. Furthermore it aimed to train professionals in certain topics such as sustainable development and virtual means in youth work. Last but not least the aim was to further develop digital and virtual means of collaboration in international youth work and as tools of training youth group leaders.
