Objectives

The aim of our youth exchanges is for young people from Europe to get to know each other and the respective countries and to compare their goals/ideas/views on certain topics with each other - it is important in the program planning to allow for self-efficacy and in "open spaces" sufficient opportunities to try things out. The "project" must considered with the mobility’s A1-A5 (the activities in the budget year) that described here. The general aim is above all to improve international, inter-European understanding between the participating associations, to set new standards and to develop new forms of new exchange formats in order to strengthen international work and cohesion within the international youth hostel family. The overarching themes as goals/objectives named as: Education for sustainable development, historical-political education, interculturality, healthy growing up, identity formation and life planning and -of course- the promotion of the European idea. These overarching themes generally taken into account in every mobility, although each specialist program/meeting naturally has its own focus. A1: FoE Evaluation in 11/2022 as a specialist/ expert meeting (staff mobility). The program format of the youth exchange (with the same name) evaluated and changed in some areas. Among other things, the aim was to continue that exchange to ensure high quality during the approval period of the current Erasmus+ accreditation until 2027. The aim was to draw up a written agreement, to form the framework for the next youth encounters, signed by all decision-makers in the organizations of the participating countries and then implemented. A MOA (Memorandum of Agreement) was drawn up and jointly agreed. It serves as the basis for the next editions in the following years. A2: FOE 2023 youth exchange; in June 2023 in Toruń/Poland, participants (aged 18-26) from seven European countries came together to discussed opportunities, their perspectives and national backgrounds. This year's main theme, chosen by the Polish partner, was: „Leadership in crises?“ In this context, questions were discussed such like: "What about the European Union?" "How can I get involved in the community and make a difference?" "And what about the multicultural society and the associated challenges?" "What happens to the EU-YOUTH GOALS? Are they already implemented? Where do I find them in my daily life and what are the challenges?" The Dialogue Sessions supplemented by workshops and active tasks. (This also included A4/ APV Future of Europe= preparatory visit to Poland. But due short time capacities and travel time of the other countries and so it was limited to the host Poland (Alimuradova) and Germany (DJH) as beneficiary, who planned on site and informed the others before and after the event. In the future, all or as many partner organizations as possible should again take part in the APV-meetings, as well as young people/potential participants, in order to help shape the programe and get involved in advance. A3: The first part of the German-Spanish youth exchange: "My culture-Mi identidad" in Germany, August 2023, incl. APV in April 2023 in Hamburg (A5): The core topic are culture plus identity, and especially the confrontation with these. Connecting factors such as traditions and regional characteristics highlighted. Sustainability was a major topic in climate protection projects, such as on the “Wattenmeer” (Mudflats) and "cleaning action" via canoes. Wherever possible, local transfers were also made by public transport e.g. on regional trains between Otterndorf, Stade and Hamburg. The flights to and from the international destinations were offset via myclimate.org and invested in a climate protection project in Nicaragua (joint decision of the group). The critical examination of colonialism and global responsibility addressed through a post-colonial city tour and a visit to the MAKK in Hamburg. The aim young people to engage in dialog and reflection achieved and will continued in the second part. This was prepared in Germany with the group and the program was adapted once again. The APV/ A5: was to get to know the teamers, the locations in Germany and to discuss, adapt and adjust the program and to try out some of it on site (such as the visit to Stade Youth Hostel). This was essential for the smooth running of the exchange and will take place alternately in the future. In this way, a sustainable and good preparation and Follow-up(experiences from the last exchange).
